The good old simple life

Happy Orange
I am comparing my life with the life i used to live as a kid, years ago, back in Iran.

Our life was simpler. Not just because i was a kid and my own life was simpler and uncomplicated, no. Because the life was simpler. Less convenient! , but in a way simpler.

  • We never used disposable.
  • The milk was in glass bottles that we brought back to stores to be reused.
  • We squeezed oranges to make orange juice.
  • We took fruit to school for snack.
  • We used tab water.
  • Our paper work was not even comparable.
  • Our school system was simpler.
  • We played outside.
  • There were no Fast foods.
  • No obesity.
  • Diabetes was a rare disease that only Grandparents had.
  • Neighbors were not scared of neighbors.
  • We never heard someone saying "I don't have time"
  • I never knew what ADHD or Autism were.
  • Kids program was only one hour per day at 5 PM. I never forget the excitement we had for that sweet time. 5 PM meant Cookies and milk along with Cartoon for one hour. We had to finish all our homework first.
  • We didn't have tons of games and DVD players in the car and still get bored like our kids do now.
  • We did not have such a thing as "Organic food". Every thing was the way it suppose to be. Natural and organic.

Do you remember the good old days?

  1. Yes i grew up in New Zealand and i can agree with your points above. We ate freshly picked fruit from trees or bought on the side of the road. When i was really young i remember the milk getting delivered and put on our letterbox (in glass bottles). I spent most of my time outside after school playing with my animals, going for walks and bike rides. Obese children at school was very rare. Neighbors were friendly and yes people always had time to say hi and have a chat, offer a helping hand. I never had a computer or video games or a mobile phone growing up and i was fine! How different life is for my toddler though i'm trying to keep things as natural and simple as possible. I'm new to your blog and loving it:)

    1. Hi Megan. Thank you so much for your sweet comment and welcome to my blog. You are right. Isn't it sad that we have to "TRY" so hard as parents to make our children's life more natural and simpler? I am proud of you for doing this. I know how hard it is to compete with all the entertainments attracting our children.

  2. Hi Paris,
I'm also new to your blog, and I love it! I have just read several of your posts, and already want to make my own toothpaste, and buy eco nuts! (already in my Amazon cart:). I will definitely stop by very often. I like your minimalistic style!
Ahh, the simple life of the past. I was born and raised in Poland, in a very small town. My grandparents had a piece of land where we used to grow potatoes, beets, lettuce, rows and rows of raspberries and more - everything was always fresh. Milk - straight from a cow; I used to drink half of a bottle on my way home from the milkman. I don't have kids yet but I would love for them to live in a simple, natural world!

  4. I'm also new to your blog, and I love it already! I have just read several of your posts and I like the idea of making my own toothpaste. I'm on a hunt for an eco laundry detergent, and thanks to your blog I found out about eco nuts. Thank you!
Ahhhh, the old days of a simple life in the past. I was born and raised in a small town in Poland. My grandparents had a piece of land where we used to have potatoes, cherry trees, lettuce, beets, and rows and rows of raspberries! Everything was fresh, healthy, and nobody heard of organic because everything was the way it was supposed to be - chemicals free. When I was a few years old, I used to walk with my brother a few houses down to get fresh milk straight from a cow. We watched it being milked, and then drank the milk. It might seem gross to some people but we loved it! We used to climb trees, run around the woods, and build houses with branches and leaves. I miss those days so much, and would love my kids to live in a natural and simple world. I don't have them yet but by knowing how good it is to live such a life, and preparing everything now, I think I can get them at least a piece of that heaven I was brought up in.
I'm so glad I have found your blog. I will stop by often!
